1What is Sugardown®?
Sugardown® is a chewable dietary supplement designed to support healthy blood glucose levels and has been shown in clinical studies to reduce post-meal blood sugar levels by slowing down post-meal digestion and absorption of glucose, thereby effectively reducing the total glycemic load in high glycemic meals.
2What is the main ingredient?
The main (active) ingredient in Sugardown® is a patented galactomannan formulation derived from plant sources.
3Are galactomannan safe for human consumption?
Sugardown® may be taken immediately and up to 15 minutes before eating foods or drinking liquids that contain carbohydrates.
4How does Sugardown® work?
Sugardown® works to lower the rise in post-meal blood glucose levels by inhibiting the breakdown of ingested sugar by carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes (CHEs), thereby allowing less sugar (glucose) to be absorbed (up to 60%) from the small intestine and into the blood. The patented formulation of Sugardown® may also induce satiety, thereby facilitating portion control as a secondary benefit.
5How can Sugardown® benefit me?
In the United States alone, 25 million people have diabetes and 79 million people are pre-diabetic, according to the American Diabetes Association. In 2015, 110 million people in China suffer from Type 2 Diabetes and the WHO estimates that the number is expected to grow to 151 million in 2040. Eating high glycemic index (GI) foods can help set the stage for the development of obesity and diabetes for many people. High GI foods are those that break down quickly into glucose creating a quick and unhealthy spike in blood sugar. Some examples of high GI foods are bread, potatoes, processed grain flours, soda and drinks containing high fructose corn syrup. Sugardown® can reduce the after-meal sugar spike created by high glycemic foods and other carbohydrates. Sugardown® can also encourage a sense of satiety or fullness before a meal, helping with portion control and supports good intestinal health and regularity.
6How should I take Sugardown®?
Sugardown® should be chewed thoroughly until dissolved and then swallowed prior to each meal, drink or snack that contains carbohydrates. It can be taken immediately and up to 15 minutes before consumption.
7How often should I take Sugardown®?
Sugardown® may be taken before each meal, snack or drink that contains carbohydrates.
8Will Sugardown® reduce my blood glucose level?
The main function of Sugardown® is to moderate the magnitude of post-meal rise in blood sugar levels. Sugardown® is not intended to reduce the amount of glucose already present in the blood. Sugardown® works only in the GIT and have not been associated with any hypoglycemic episodes. Clinical studies performed on the formulation suggest that there is no evidence to support that Sugardown® by itself reduces the amount of glucose already present in the blood.
9Can Sugardown® help me lose weight?
Although Sugardown® reduces the impact of high glycemic foods, no clinical studies have been conducted to validate Sugardown® as a weight loss product. However, since Sugardown® reduces the amount of sugar available for absorption, it may be used to support weight management program. In addition, Sugardown® induces satiety, or a feeling of fullness, which may help facilitate portion control and maintenance of a healthy diet plan.
